AthletesNow LLC ("AthletesNow!", "we", "us", or "our") operates the AthletesNow! mobile application and the website at athletesnow.app (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
A note on young athletes. AthletesNow! is used by student-athletes who may be minors. We have built additional protections for these users, described throughout this policy and summarized in the "Minors" section below.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information — name, email address, date of birth, grade level, sport(s), school or institution, and account type (athlete, school, pro team, or agent).
- Profile content — athletic statistics, highlight videos, photos, social media handles, and other content you choose to add.
- Verification information — identity documents, student ID, and institutional credentials submitted during verification.
- Payment information — processed by our third-party payment processors. We do not store full card numbers.
- Communications — messages you send to us or, where enabled, to other users.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — features used, profiles viewed, time spent, and in-app actions.
- Device data — device type, operating system, app version, and general (non-precise) location derived from IP address.
- Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data to keep the Service working.
How We Use Information
- To create and operate your account and provide the Service.
- To verify identity and eligibility, and to enforce compliance rules (including NCAA recruiting windows).
- To generate features you request, such as scout reports, NIL scoring, and trip planning.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To protect users, including automatic watermarking of uploaded video and fraud prevention.
- To communicate with you about the Service, with your consent where required.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Athlete Visibility and Your Controls
Visibility is opt-in by default. A new athlete profile is not visible to pro teams, agents, or media unless the athlete explicitly opts in, per league. You can change these settings at any time in the app. School/coach visibility operates only within applicable compliance windows.
Video Watermarking
Every video uploaded to AthletesNow! is automatically watermarked to help protect athlete likeness and discourage unauthorized redistribution. Before each upload, the uploading user must acknowledge and consent to watermarking. We log the date and time of each acknowledgment. Watermarking is a protective measure and not a guarantee against misuse by third parties.
How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other users, according to your visibility settings (for example, a verified coach viewing an opted-in athlete profile).
- With service providers who help us run the Service (hosting, analytics, payment processing, identity and background verification), under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
Minors
Athletes under the age of majority may use the Service in accordance with our Terms, and in many cases through a parent or guardian co-account. For these users, visibility defaults are restrictive, profiles are subject to compliance windows, and uploaded video is watermarked. A parent or guardian may review, request changes to, or request deletion of a minor's information by contacting us at the address below. We do not knowingly collect more information from a minor than is necessary to provide the Service.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the in-app controls or contact us. You can delete your account at any time — see our Account Deletion page.
Canadian Users (PIPEDA & CASL)
For users in Canada, we handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law. Commercial electronic messages are sent only with consent as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and every such message includes an unsubscribe mechanism.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Users
We are based in the United States and process information there. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the U.S. and other countries.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service.
